Former parliament member Major (retd) MA Mannan has been barred from leaving the country.
Dhaka metropolitan’s Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain slapped the travel ban on the former Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company (BIFC) chairman on Tuesday (November 5), allowing a plea by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The ACC said during his term as BIFC chairman, Mannan sanctioned Tk 8 crore loan for Telecom Service Limited and embezzled the money, showing that it was disbursed accordingly.
Mannan is trying to flee the country to evade justice, the petition added.
