Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed recent controversies and ongoing violence during a visit to the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building this morning. The BTV office, which has been severely damaged, was a focal point of recent unrest linked to the quota reform movement.
During her visit, Sheikh Hasina refuted claims that she had labeled the students involved in the movement as "Razakar." She clarified that her earlier statement had been distorted, asserting that it was the students who referred to themselves as "Razakar."
The Prime Minister condemned the violence, which she attributed to "miscreants" within the quota reform movement. She emphasized the need for public cooperation in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the destruction. “We need the people’s help to find and punish these perpetrators,” Sheikh Hasina stated. “The attackers are hiding everywhere, and we must unite to expose them.”
Sheikh Hasina also criticized the opposition parties, particularly the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, accusing them of employing similar tactics as in past incidents. She alleged that these groups have escalated their methods by using gunpowder and spreading their movement internationally to tarnish the country’s image and disrupt people's livelihoods.
The Prime Minister's call for public assistance underscores the government's stance on combating violence and maintaining national stability.
