The government has formed a 19-member committee to convert Ganabhaban into a museum. Additional members can be added as needed.
"Ganabhaban will showcase the nationwide oppression during the July-August period under the ousted Awami League government. The museum will also feature a replica of 'Aynaghor,” said ICT adviser Nahid Islam after inspecting the work progress of the museum on Saturday (November 2).
The adviser said that the museum will be preserved, regardless of which government comes to power.
“The museum will be completed soon and then opened to the public,” said Mahfuz Alam, special assistant to the Chief Adviser.
"Ganabhaban stands as a symbol of the struggles and pride of the country's people, representing democracy against fascism. Efforts will be made to share its history with the world,” he said.
On August 5, protesters attacked Ganabhaban shortly after Hasina fled Bangladesh and sought refuge in India in the face of a mass uprising. The protesters painted graffiti on the walls and rooms of Ganabhaban, leaving various messages of protest against Hasina.
