Former housing and public works minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury has been arrested.
He was arrested from the capital’s Mirpur on Thursday (October 31), said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallik.
“He is accused in several murder cases,” said Mallik.
A murder case was filed on August 23 against 26 leaders and members of Awami League and its associate organisations, including Muktadir, over the killing of a Madrasa student during a clash between Hefazat-e-Islam and Awami League activists in 2021.
Besides, another case was filed in Brahmanbaria on August 27 against 168 leaders and members of Awami League and its associate bodies for attacking BNP leader Khaled Hossain Mahbub's motorcade on December 16, 2018.
