IGP appeals for end to attacks on police

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has urged political leaders and leaders of the Students Against Discrimination movement to help prevent attacks on police personnel and police establishments.
He made the call from an undisclosed location in a video message on Tuesday.
The IGP requested all political and student movement leaders to call upon everyone so that attacks on police members and police establishments do not take place.
“At the same time, the army is cooperating with us to ensure the security of the police establishments.”
He continued: "I pray for the salvation of the souls of the members of Bangladesh Police who lost their lives and were killed while performing their duties with professionalism to protect lives and properties. I extend my deepest condolences to their bereaved families. All kinds of treatment will be ensured for those undergoing treatment at different places in the injured condition.
"Maximum efforts will be taken to logically solve various problems and demands raised by the members of Bangladesh Police. I especially request all members of Bangladesh Police to perform their duties with strong morale and patience maintaining their own security. Hopefully, with the cooperation of all, the situation will become normal soon.”
