Nahid Islam, adviser for the ministries of posts, telecommunications and information technology as well as information and broadcasting, has said the young generation that dreamt of building a new Bangladesh through the July uprising will be the one to lead the nation across all sectors.
Speaking at a program at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Friday to mark National Youth Day, the adviser said the youth have shown a new way forward for the country and that young people are preparing to lead in every field, including the economy.
“Not only the people of Bangladesh but the entire world is now rethinking the potential of the youth, watching in amazement. The youth of Bangladesh have shown the world a new direction through the July uprising. As a result, the world now waits to see where this energy of youth will lead Bangladesh next.”
The adviser further commented: "If we can channel the zeal, enthusiasm, and conscious will within the youth, Bangladesh will surely advance to a better place. During the July uprising, everyone took to the streets. On one side was the call of the motherland, and on the other, death.”
At the event, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, adviser for the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the Ministry of Labour and Employment, announced that 500,000 new government jobs will be created in the next two years.
Asif said: “The best time in human life is youth, and the youth constitute the most valuable part of human resources. This youth power, as a ‘demographic dividend,’ is crucial to the country's economy. Our interim government, through the Department of Youth Development, is working to make job-seeking youth suitable for human resource development.”
Following this, the advisers visited the Youth Fair organized for National Youth Day 2024.
During the event, 12 successful self-employed individuals and three top youth organizers were honoured with the National Youth Award 2024.
