News Desk: A person died and five others were injured as bricks of the under-construction Metro Rail project fell on pedestrians in the capital’s Mirpur area on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as AMK Mahbub Rahman Talukder Sohel, 49. He was the shopkeeper of a jewellery shop at Mirpur-10.
Mahbub, hailed from Bogra and used to live in Mirpur-11 along with his brother.
The incident took place around 11:30am when bricks of under-construction Metro Rail block fell on pedestrians on the road at Mirpur-11, said Pallabi police sub-inspector Pintu Kumar Chowdhury.
Mahbub was on his way to workplace and died from his head injuries, said the police officer.
Five others sustained injuries in the incident.
The incident took place between pillar no. 202 and 203 at station no. 5 of the metro rail project, police said.
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
No case was filed over the incident till afternoon, said Pallabi police station sub-inspector Salma Akter.
