Time News Desk: At least 10 men, including five policemen, were injured during a clash between AL and BNP men in Sonagazi upazila of Feni yesterday (August 29, 2022).
Mashkur Rahman, senior assistant superintendent (Sonagazi Circle) of Feni police, was among the injured, reports a correspondent from Feni.
The clash broke out in the West Bazar area yesterday afternoon, said Khaled Hossain, officer-in-Charge of Sonagazi Model Police Station.
Police fired bullets and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control and arrested four-five people from near the spot, said the OC.
Witnesses said additional police were deployed in the municipality because of separate meetings of BNP and Chhatra League. Around 4:00 pm, BNP held a protest rally on Bhairab Road.
After the rally, BNP activists hurled brickbats at the police around 5:00 pm. When police fired bullets and tear gas to control the situation, at least 10 people from both sides, were injured, they said.
OC Khaled said the situation is currently under control. Police patrolling continued in the town.
