Time Digital News: At least four people were killed in separate road crash in the capital and Sylhet on Saturday and Friday night.
Our Sylhet correspondent reported that three people, including an elderly couple, were killed and another was critically injured in a road accident in Sylhet on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Luthfur Rahman, 72, his wife Jeli Begum, 60, and another person named Yunus Miah, the police said.
The accident took place at about 8:00am when a Bianibazar-bound speeding pick-up van collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sylhet-Zakiganj road near Ranaping Bazaar at Golabganj upazila in the district, local residents said.
Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot and another was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital after being rescued in a critical condition, said Golabganj police station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam.
The pick-up van was seized on the spot but its driver and the helper managed to flee, the OC said.
Two persons were killed in two separate accidents in the capital’s Mirpur and Jatrabari areas early today and Friday, BSS reported.
On Friday night, a businessperson identified as Md Iqbal Hossain, 33, suffered severe injuries as a speeding pick-up hit his vehicle from behind in Shonir Akhra area of the capital.
Iqbal was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at midnight, said DMCH police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mia.
