Time News Desk: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed left-handed batsman Afif Hossain as the vice-captain in the Asia Cup, confirmed a BCB press release on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old, Afif, has played 47 Twenty20 internationals since making his debut in February 2018.
A key component in the middle-order, who also bowls as a part-time off-spinner if needed, Afif is hailed as one of the promising players for Bangladesh in the long run.
Alongside assisting Shakib Al Hasan, another recently appointed captain in the side, Afif might feature in another new role as the number four batsman in the Bangladesh batting order, starting from August 30 against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
So far in T20Is, Afif has scored 698 runs in 42 innings, with an average of 19 and a strike-rate of 118.
He has scalped eight wickets in 16 innings as well.
