Bangladesh ranks 2nd in SA, 4th in AP in corruption

Time Digital Report: Bangladesh ranked 147 out of 180 countries, second in South Asia and Fourth in Asia Pacific in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2022.

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) released the reports on Tuesday today.

Bangladesh received a score of 26 out of 100. The score for 2021 is the same as in 2020, 2019, and 2018, , according to the CPI,

Bangladesh is ranked 147th, one position lower than in 2020, and from the bottom, it is ranked 13th, one position higher than in 2020.

The CPI ranks 180 countries and territories around the world by their perceived levels of public sector corruption. The results are given on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

"Bangladesh's overall points drop to 25 is disappointing," the executive director of TIB, Iftekharuzzaman said in a press conference.

Bangladesh is still the second most corrupt country in South Asia. Afghanistan occupies the top position in this region.

Bangladesh is the fourth most corrupt country among 31 countries in Asia-Pacific, According to the index.
