Time Sports Desk: FIFA show caused Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag and two other officials after the audit committee of the world football governing body found irregularities in the procurement process of the BFF, according to a report on a local television channel on Saturday.
Apart from Shohag, the two other officials who were showcased are BFF chief financial officer Abu Hossain and assistant finance officer Anupam Sarkar.
According to FIFA rules, the lowest bidder from three organisations will earn the procurement rights, and the BFF also did that.
However, the FIFA audit committee discovered differences between the procurement receipt and the bidder’s quotation.
The BFF also violated FIFA rules as they didn’t pay the wages of their workers for the last three months and used that fund for procurement purposes.
The BFF has its own oversight committee, led by Abdur Rahim, to monitor the procurement process, but he was unwilling to make any comments to the media about this issue.
Shohag said, ‘So far as I know about this issue it is already settled.’
BFF finance committee chief Abdus Salam Murshedy also received a copy of letter from FIFA.
Murshedy informed that the BFF will form two more committees to make the procurement process strict.
‘We will form at least two more committees to make the procurement process strict,’ Murshedy told the media on Saturday.
