Bangladesh Jewellery Expo-2022, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, will begin tomorrow (March 17) at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The three-day jewellery expo organised by Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) will showcase locally-made ornaments and excellence of local goldsmiths from March 17 to March 19.
More than 70 stalls will display their products at the fair which will remain open from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day. There will be attractive offers with discounts for the visitors.
In a statement, BAJUS President Sayem Sobhan Anvir expressed his hope that the fair will play a vital role in helping Bangladesh export gold and ornaments meeting local demand.
Chairman of BAJUS Standing Committee on Exhibition, Trade and Event Management Uttam Banik said the expo will also arrange a fashion show to attract visitors.
“New designs of ornaments, made by the goldsmiths of the country, will be put on display at the expo. Besides, industry leaders at home and abroad will exchange their knowledge for further development of the sector,” Uttam Banik, who is also the BAJUS Treasurer, said.
Earlier, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said BAJUS initiative will play an important role in implementing Vision 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
