Time Digital Report: A Dhaka court today placed Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed with Jatrabari Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order after Md Abul Bashar, an inspector of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Shafiqur before it on completion of his seven-day remand in the case.
Upon hearing both sides, the magistrate dismissed the defence pleas and placed him on a fresh remand.
8-day remand application was made today again for the same purpose in the same case. The court granted remand for 3 days. Dr. Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman was deprived of justice in the false case filed by the government, told acting
Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said in the statement that he has been in police custody continuously since the night of December 12. Dr. Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman remanded for 7 consecutive days and 3 more days today. Emotional pressure has been created on him. He needs to rest. He was deprived of that opportunity.
A team of CTTC arrested Shafiqur Rahman from his Bashundhara house on December 13.
