Desk Report: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South distributed food packets of Sehri and Iftar ahead of month of Ramadan among the helpless and destitute people in the city.
Nurul Islam Bulbul, a member of the party Central Executive Council and Ameer of Dhaka City South, handed over the food items to them at a ceremony in the city on Saturday, says a press release.
City nayeb-e-ameer Manjurul Islam Bhuiyan, Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Assistant Secretaries Helal Uddin, Muh Delwar Hossain and Kamal Hossain, among others, were present at the function.
Ramadan, also spelled Ramazan, Ramzan, Ramadhan or Ramathan, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. A commemoration of Muhammad's first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.
