Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl from a paddy field in Satkhira's Kalaroa upazila this morning, hours after she went missing.

Deceased Sujoti Khatun was an eighth grader of Kalaroa Girls Pilot High School.

"We suspect that someone called her out and strangled after tying up her hands. Later, her body was dumped at the paddy field," Nasir Uddin Mridha, officer-in-charge of Kalaroa Police Station, told a correspondent in the district.

Deceased's father Sohrab Hossain said his daughter went out of their house around 8:00pm yesterday and since then she was missing.

Sohrab lodged a diary with the police station last night after Sujoti went missing.

The body was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
