Time News Desk: Bangladesh's wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim injured himself during a gym session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
The 35-year-old received six stitches below his left knee around the shin bone.
A member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board medical team also confirmed that the experienced cricketer will be under observation for minimum two weeks.
Mushfiq recently announced his retirement from T20Is following criticisms and a dismal Asia Cup campaign earlier this month.
With Mushfiq retired from the shortest format of the game, Bangladesh also announced a 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup next month in Australia.
It is the first time that Mushfiq will not be a part of the Tigers' T20 World Cup squad.
The cricketer, however, remains an important member of the Bangladesh Test and ODI side.
