News Desk: BNP leader Advocate Maqbool Hossain was granted three days remand on charges of obstructing police work in a clash between Dhaka College students and New Market traders. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the verdict on Saturday afternoon.
The investigation officer of the case, Inspector Haldar Arpit Tagore, produced Maqbool before the court today with seven days remand prayers for proper investigation of the case filed with Newmarket Police Station.
Earlier, Maqbool Hossain was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence in the capital on Friday afternoon.
Maqbool is named as the prime suspect in a case filed at New Market Police Station by Inspector Yamin Kabir. The charges include obstructing government activity, attacking police, throwing brickbats, vandalism and injuring others.
Twenty-three other suspects are named in the case alongside 200-300 unnamed New Market traders and workers and 600-700 Dhaka College students.
