RAB DG Abdullah Al Mamun set to be next IGP

Time Digital Desk: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun is set to be appointed as the next Inspector General (IGP) of Bangladesh Police according to source.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun will replace the current IGP Benazir Ahmed who is set to retire on September 30.

Ministry of Home Affairs will issue a gazette notification soon in this regard.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun was born on January 12 in 1964 in a respectable Muslim family at Shrihail village under Shalla upazila of Sunamganj district. He attained his graduation and post-graduation degrees in Social Science from Chattogram University.

Abdullah Al Mamun joined Bangladesh Police as an assistant superintendent of police in 1989. He served as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), superintendent of police in Nilphamari district, deputy commissioner in Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and as deputy inspector general in Mymensingh and Dhaka Range and Police Headquarters.
