Time Digital Report: Tea workers blocked Juri-Borolekha regional highway in Moulvibazar today for four hours, demanding Tk 300 daily wage.
They blocked the road at Chaumuhani point from 11am to 3pm, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Commuters were stuck as the road blockade created traffic congestion on both sides of the regional highway.
On information, Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, who went to Juri to attend a government programme, visited the tea workers and spoke to them.
The minister said, "You elected Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina again and again. The Prime Minister wants to ensure your wellbeing.
"The government is building houses for you (tea workers). Your fate will be changed if the Prime Minister stays in power."
"You said you want to hear from the Prime Minister and talk to her. I have come to you just after talking with the Prime Minister's secretary. I hope she will talk to you within three days. And the issue will be resolved," he added.
"So, I request you to wait three more days. A solution may come. You will get a solution from the Prime Minister," he said.
