News Desk: The education minister Dipu Moni on Wednesday said that they were not sure yet when this year’s secondary school certificate and equivalent examinations would be held.
‘Still some rural areas are under water and we are assessing the situation,’ she said at a press conference held at the secretariat on the day.
She said that many SSC candidates at flood affected areas lost their books while the ministry would give them books again.
‘After giving books we will give them two weeks for preparation and then the exams will be held,’ she continued.
The minister did not mention any time for the exams.
Earlier the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education across the country on Sunday have reached a consensus on holding this year’s secondary school certificate and equivalent examinations in August.
Similarly, the higher secondary school certificate and equivalent examinations are likely to be held in October.
The education ministry had earlier announced the dates for beginning this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations on June 19, and HSC and equivalent examinations on August 22.
Later on June 17, the government postponed the announcement due to the worsening flood situation.
