The Dhaka Labour Court has extended the bail of Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus till April 16 in the case of violation of labour law.

In view of an application, the court extended the bail period of three top officials of Grameen Telecom besides Dr Yunus on Monday.

According to the court order, Dr Yunus will remain on bail till April 16. On that day, four people including Yunus have to appear in court again.

The court also said that April 16 has been fixed as the date for hearing the appeal. At the same time, the Letter of Credit (LCR) of the case sent from the Labour Court was accepted.

On March 6, a hearing was conducted to address the suspension of the judgment and order issued by the Third Labour Court of Dhaka against four top officials of Grameen Telecom, including Dr Muhammad Yunus, in a case related to the violation of labour laws.

Earlier, on February 4, the plaintiff filed a criminal revision application in the High Court challenging the validity of part of the order issued by the Labour Appellate Tribunal on January 28. This order suspended the judgment and order of the Third Labor Court. Subsequently, the plaintiff of the case and the labour inspector of the Directorate of Inspection of Factories conducted a preliminary hearing on the application in the High Court on the next day, February 5, with a ruling.
