Chattogram Challengers rose to the top of the Bangladesh Premier League points table with an eight-wicket win over last season’s finalist Sylhet Strikers, who suffered their fourth defeat in a row.
With four victories from five matches, the Challengers are sitting pretty at the summit while the Strikers are rock bottom as the only winless side of the seven-team tournament.
The Strikers lost two in Mirpur and as many in Sylhet and will hope to revive their campaign in the three remaining games at home before the BPL returns for the Dhaka phase.
Batting first at Sylhet International Stadium Monday, the home team put on an underwhelming total of 137 runs losing four wickets in their 20 overs, Harry Tector scoring the highest 45.
Player of the match Bilal Khan bagged three wickets for the table-toppers.
In reply, the port city outfit raced to their target in 17.4 overs thanks to half-centuries from Tanzid Hasan and the unbeaten Tom Bruce.
