New decision on curfew

Curfew will be relaxed from 7 am to 8 pm every day from next Wednesday to Saturday.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal gave this information in a briefing at the secretariat on Tuesday (July 30) at 7:30 p.m.

He said that curfew will be in force for the next four days from 8 pm to 7 am. This decision to relax curfew will be effective in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Narsingdi districts. In other districts the local administration will decide on this.

Earlier, at 3:20 PM, seven ministers, four secretaries and heads of law and order forces sat in this discussion to decide on some important issues including the overall law and order situation of the country, curfew, Jamaat-Shibir ban, ongoing anti-discrimination quota reform movement.

In the meeting presided over by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Law Minister Anisul Haque, Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Arafat, State Minister for Labor and Employment Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury and State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak are present.

Foreign Secretary, Commerce Secretary, Secretary of Public Security Department of Home Ministry and Secretary of Security Department participated in the meeting. Apart from this, the top officials of law enforcement along with the police chief participated in the meeting.

Incidentally, when violence-conflict broke out around the quota reform movement, on the night of July 19, a curfew was imposed across the country and the army was deployed. Later, the government declared a general holiday from July 21 to 23. When the government launched an operation to suppress the violence, the situation returned to normal from last July 22. After that, the curfew relaxation time gradually increases. The office was gradually opened.
