Water levels in northeastern rivers expected to rise briefly

Brahmaputra, Jamuna and Padma rivers are seeing a rising trend
Water levels in major rivers across the northeastern region of Bangladesh may increase at some monitoring points for a short period in 24 hours from 9am on Tuesday, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has said.
According to information obtained from meteorological organizations, medium to heavy rainfall is expected over the northern, northeastern and adjoining upstream in the next 72 hours, the FFWC said.
Flood conditions in low-lying areas of Sylhet may improve at a slow pace during the period.
The Brahmaputra, Jamuna and Padma rivers are seeing a rising trend, which may continue in the next 48 hours, while the Ganges is in a steady state.
