327 troops taken shelter in Bangladesh

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that soldiers who have fled Bangladesh due to the ongoing unrest in Myanmar will be sent back by ship within the next day or two.

"Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members completely disarmed the Myanmar troops after they fled to Bangladesh and took them into safe shelter. They also provided medical services to the injured, he said to reporters at Rajarbagh in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

According to BGB data, a total of 327 Myanmar forces, including BGP, army personnel, and immigration officials, have taken shelter in Bangladesh amid the ongoing conflicts along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border till February 7.

"There is no conflict between Bangladesh and Myanmar. They took refuge in Bangladesh for self-defence. Myanmar will soon take the BGP members back by ship. At the same time, the BGB is working to maintain peace and order at the border of Bangladesh," the home minister added.

Regarding journalists’ questions, the home minister said: "The BNP has no existence in the parliament. Therefore, they are not the opposition party. BNP always wants to create an unstable situation in the country. However, their plans did not succeed because the police were vigilant."
