Primary school opens on August 4

Primary schools across Bangladesh, except for those in the 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipality, will reopen on Sunday, August 4, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced today.

The decision comes after a joint meeting between the ministry and the Directorate of Primary Education. The reopening of schools in the affected city corporations and Narsingdi will depend on the normalization of the situation.

Class schedules will remain unchanged, but school hours may be adjusted based on local curfew timings. The district primary education officer will make the final decision on school hours for each area.

The prolonged closure of educational institutions due to the quota reform movement has disrupted studies for millions of students across all levels. The movement, which began on July 1, led to widespread protests and violence.
