Ex-minister Farhad Hossain placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former public administration minister and former member of parliament for Meherpur-1, Farhad Hossain on a five-day remand in a case filed over the murder of garment worker Rubel.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order on Sunday.
Adabar Police Station Inspector Md Abdul Malek, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
Farhad Hossain's lawyers sought bail and cancellation of the remand. After hearing both sides, the court granted a five-day remand.
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Farhad Hossain from the Iskaton area of the capital on Saturday.
A case was filed against him on August 5 in connection with the shooting and killing of students and the general public during an anti-discrimination student movement.
