The Bangladesh Bank’s anti-money laundering unit has instructed all banks and financial institutions to freeze transactions involving accounts held by former Cricket Board chief Nazmul Hasan Papon and his family.

On Thursday, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) issued a directive requiring a 30-day suspension of transactions for these accounts, including those associated with businesses run by Papon and his relatives.

Additionally, the BFIU has mandated that banks block any locker services used by Papon and his family members.

Institutions are also required to provide detailed account information within five working days of receiving the directive.

Nazmul Hasan Papon, who led the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for three terms since 2012 and served as a sports minister under the ousted Awami League government, resigned from his BCB position following the government's fall on 5 August.
