Sheikh Hasina, ousted from her position as Prime Minister of Bangladesh due to massive student protests, has taken refuge in India. An interim government has been established following her departure.

Amid these events, Pakistan has expressed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh. In a report on Wednesday, August 7, Pakistani media outlet The Dawn highlighted Pakistan's stance, noting their hope for a peaceful return to normalcy in Bangladesh.

The Pakistani Foreign Office (FO) issued a statement saying, "The government and people of Pakistan express solidarity with the people of Bangladesh. We sincerely hope for a peaceful and speedy return to normalcy." The statement further added, "We are sure the strong spirit and unity of the people of Bangladesh will lead them to a better future."

Sheikh Hasina resigned last Monday amidst the student-led mass movement and fled to India. Reports suggest she may seek asylum in the United Kingdom, although the UK has indicated that she will not be granted asylum. A UK Home Office spokesperson stated that their immigration laws do not provide for individuals to travel to the UK to claim political or general asylum.

Additionally, the United States has canceled Sheikh Hasina's visa. On Tuesday, a source close to the US foreign ministry confirmed this cancellation, which was a consequence of the anti-quota movement that forced her out of office.
