Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the interim government, visited the grave of Abu Saeed and his family members at Jafarpara village in Pirganj Upazila on Saturday. During his visit, Yunus addressed the media, emphasizing national unity and protection for all citizens of Bangladesh.
In his remarks, Yunus asserted that Abu Saeed, who has become a symbolic figure for many, represents the entire nation. "It is one Bangladesh, not two Bangladeshs," he stated. "This Abu Saeed's Bangladesh is without distinction. So, it is our duty to protect the parents, brothers, and sisters of Abu Saeed wherever they are. We must ensure there is no disturbance or divisiveness."
Yunus highlighted the inclusive nature of Abu Saeed's legacy, declaring that he is a son to every household, irrespective of religion or caste. "Abu Saeed is now house to house. He is in every home, whether it is a Hindu family, a Muslim family, a Christian family, or a Buddhist family. We must take care that there is no disturbance, and no one should talk about religion in a divisive manner. We are all children of this soil; all of us are Abu Saeed."
The Chief Advisor underscored the government’s responsibility to protect all citizens equally. "As Abu Saeed stood, we must also stand. We are all Bangladeshis; we are all children of Bangladesh. The mother of Abu Saeed is the mother of all, and the mother of all is the mother of Abu Saeed. We must protect them together."
Yunus arrived at the Marine Academy in Pirganj by helicopter at 10:42 AM and proceeded to Jafarpara village by road. He visited Abu Saeed’s grave at 11:05 AM and later met with the deceased’s relatives. The visit was accompanied by interim government advisers Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud, along with Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Zakir Hossain, Deputy Commissioner Mobaswer Hasan, and senior officials from the district and upazila administration.
