BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that the success of the recent movement is a collective achievement of the nation, not of any single party.

Speaking at a rally organized by Ulipur Upazila BNP at the Shaheed Minar premises in Kurigram on Wednesday, he said: “The people of the country have fought for democracy together for 17 years. The movement culminated successfully on August 5 because of this unity. BNP does not wish to engage in debates over individual contributions.

"Any attempt to claim exclusive credit for the movement would dishonor the sacrifices made. This was not a short-term struggle but a long-term one, and the credit belongs to everyone in the nation,” he added.

Amir Khasru emphasized the transformation of BNP through adversity, saying: “BNP is now a strong and mature political party. Over the past 17 years, thousands of BNP leaders and activists have faced enforced disappearances, killings, and disabilities. Their sacrifices have forged a resilient BNP, with its members tested and refined like pure gold.”

On future governance, he outlined BNP’s vision for political reforms: “We aim to ensure a balance of power so that no individual, like Sheikh Hasina, becomes the sole power center in the future. The prime minister's authority will be limited, and no one will serve more than two terms as prime minister.

"BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 31-point framework for repairing the state structure encompasses these reforms. If BNP comes to power, a national government will be formed, and a bicameral parliamentary system will be introduced,” he added.
