EC rejected candidacy on December 15
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has rejected a petition filed by Shammi Ahmed, the Awami League candidate for the Barisal-4 constituency, to get back her candidacy.
As a result, Shammi Ahmed would not have the opportunity to contest the election.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order on Tuesday.
On December 19, the chamber judge of the Appellate Division upheld a High Court order that rejected a writ petition filed by Shammi Ahmed challenging the cancellation of her candidature.
On December 15, the Election Commission also turned down her appeal against the cancellation of her candidacy by the returning officer.
The national polls are scheduled to be held on January 7.
