Two BGB personnel injured in firing by smugglers

Undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital
Two members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sustained injuries in a gunfight with smugglers along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar.
The incident took place around 10pm on Tuesday , Lt Col Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-2 in Teknaf, confirmed this in a notification on Wednesday.
He said that BGB members encountered a boat while patrolling the waters of Bangladesh in the Naf River. A group of armed smugglers stationed on the boat suddenly opened fire on the BGB patrol.
In self-defence, the patrol team of BGB fired back. At that time, two BGB members were seriously injured in the firing, he added.
He also said that as BGB patrols resisted, armed smugglers fired shots and fled towards the Myanmar border.
Two injured BGB members are undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital in Ramu Cantonment.
