State Minister: TCB to sell Indian onions at Tk40 per kg

Currently, onion is being sold at Tk60 to 65
State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu said onion will be sold in Dhaka and Chittagong at Tk40 per kg soon through TCB as the first shipment of 1,650 tons of onion will arrive from India by Sunday night.
He said this after a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce conference room on Sunday.
Referring to the comparative prices of various consumer goods on the first and 18th of Ramadan, he said: “The prices have significantly decreased in most cases. Additionally, there is an ample stock of all products. Therefore, it is expected that the market situation will remain normal in the future.”
There is an arrangement to import 50,000 tons of onions from India. The government will bring in these onions in phases. This spice product is currently being sold at a rate of Tk60 to 65.
