Former NBR official sued in graft case

Badrun Nahar filed the asset declaration with the ACC on October 16, 2022


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Badrun Nahar, a former official of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Jinnatul Islam on Monday filed the case at the Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1 as the plaintiff.

In the case, the former officer of NBR has been accused of acquiring over TK1.3crore beyond known income.

Badrun Nahar, retired Assistant Director of Research and Statistics Wing of NBR, filed the asset declaration with the ACC on October 16, 2022 after the asset declaration was issued.

Verification and investigation of her asset statement shows that she has given baseless and false information in the asset statement; which is a punishable offense under Prevention of Corruption Act.

She has committed an offense punishable under the ACC Act by giving baseless and false information of assets worth Tk1.30 crore in his asset statement and acquiring and possessing assets inconsistent with the known income worth over Tk5 crore.

During the investigation of the case against Badrun Nahar, it has been stated that if any information about the involvement of anyone else with the crime and any other assets is found, it will also be taken into account.
