Efforts to prevent traffic congestion on highways during Eid travel

Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association President Mashiur Rahman Ranga has issued a stern warning that any transport found charging extra fare for inter-district or long-distance travel during Eid-ul-Fitr will face suspension of service and legal action.

Ranga said this during a discussion meeting aimed at ensuring smooth and safe movement of passengers on highways and roads during the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday.

The meeting, led by Additional IGP of Highway Police Md Shahabuddin Khan, took place at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium.

Highlighting efforts to prevent traffic congestion on highways during Eid travel, Ranga mentioned the use of drones to monitor the situation.

He emphasized the association's commitment to immediate action against any violations observed.

Addressing concerns about potential traffic jams during Eid, Ranga stressed the importance of maintaining smooth travel.

He encouraged travellers to plan their journeys to avoid congestion and inconvenience.

Ranga expressed frustration over the emergence of unauthorized buses during Eid, disrupting traffic flow. He pledged to take action against such irregularities, ensuring a hassle-free travel experience for all.

Regarding reports of increased fares during Eid, Ranga assured that the association would take action against any transport operator found guilty of overcharging. He urged the public to report any instances of fare exploitation, promising swift intervention.

In response to questions about illegal parking near the Mohakhali bus terminal, Ranga clarified that while they lack authority to address the issue directly, they support traffic police in enforcing legal measures against illegal parking.

Ranga reaffirmed the association's commitment to facilitating a smooth and enjoyable Eid travel experience for all passengers, urging cooperation from all stakeholders in maintaining order and safety on the roads.
