Two drown in Moulvibazar flood

Two died as they were unable to swim
A child and a teenager died after drowning in flood waters in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila.
The incident took place in Shyam Kona village of Chadnighat union in Moulvibazar Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased are Chadi Mia, 8, son of Pachan Mia of West Shyam Kona village, and Hriday Mia, 17, son of Zamir Mia of the same village.
Aktar Uddin, chairman of Chandnighat union, said that the embankment of the Dhalai River broke and the roads of Shyam Kona village and surrounding villages were submerged in water.
Both of them drowned in the water on Thursday afternoon as they did not know how to swim. Neighbours saw the incident and rescued the two from the water and brought them home.
He also said that after receiving the news, the two were sent to the Moulvibazar 250-bed Sadar Hospital in an unconscious state, and the doctors on duty declared them dead.
