Fakhrul denied bail over attack on chief justice’s residence

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's bail plea has been rejected by the court in the case over attack on the chief justice's residence.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Thursday, reports media.

A total of 11 cases were filed against the secretary general of BNP in connection with the clash surrounding the BNP's mass rally on October 28, 2023. 

He has already got bail in 10 cases. 

The lawyer said that at least 15 accused have already got bail in the case filed at Ramna police station in connection with the attack on the residence of the chief justice.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was granted bail in a case on January 17 in Paltan police station of the capital. Earlier on January 10, he got bail in nine cases from CMM court in Dhaka.

Mirza Fakhrul was arrested on October 29. He has been in jail since then. His lawyers have repeatedly told the court that according to the Code of Criminal Procedure, any elderly and sick person is entitled to bail.
