Advance train tickets for western regions sold out in 2hrs

Advance train tickets for the western regions of Bangladesh were almost sold out from the Bangladesh Railway website in just two and a half hours. 

The sale of advance train tickets for June 14 trains began at 8am on Tuesday.

Sandeep Debnath, CEO of Shohoz.com, which is involved in the sale of railway tickets, said that 14,000 tickets out of 14,279 for the western region were sold in the first two hours. Of these, the highest demand was for the Rangpur division. 

About 18 million hits were received on the website to buy tickets between 8am and 8:30am during peak hours, he added. 

Mohammad Masud Sarwar, station manager of Kamalapur Railway Station, said there was a huge demand for tickets for the western region districts since the sale began on Sunday. 

Bangladesh Railway started selling advance train tickets online on Sunday morning to ensure a hassle-free journey for passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
