Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Khaleda Zia's health condition has stabilized following the recent implantation of a pacemaker.

He said this while addressing journalists at a press conference at the party headquarters in Gulshan on Tuesday afternoon.

Fakhrul said that Khaleda Zia had been moved to a cabin after the recent pacemaker implantation, emphasizing that her condition is stable.

He said: "As far as I am aware up until this (Tuesday) morning, she was shifted to a cabin yesterday (Monday). Due to her inability to make personal adjustments at the CCU, she has been shifted to the cabin where she is currently stable."

The decision to implant a pacemaker was made by a medical board led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder at Evercare Hospital on Sunday.

Khaleda Zia, who has been dealing with heart issues including three blockages, had earlier undergone a ring placement based on advice from foreign doctors and the medical board.

Mirza Fakhrul also addressed political developments surrounding Khaleda Zia, highlighting the prime minister's rejection of her family's application.

"Almost all arrangements had been made for her (Khaleda Zia) to be sent abroad following the family's application. However, when it reached the prime minister, she rejected it. We also sent letters to various missions, but the efforts were futile," he said.

The BNP secretary general emphasized that the objective behind these actions is to keep Khaleda Zia away from political activities.

He referenced past events, including false charges before the 2018 election that led to her imprisonment, suggesting ongoing efforts to hinder her release.
