Awami League does not want power through conspiracy
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday thanked the Election Commission for announcing the schedule of the 12th National Parliament election and said he has full belief that the commission will hold free and fair polls.
He said: “We praised them and applauded the Election Commission for their schedule announcement yesterday. We hope that the Election Commission will be able to hold free, fair, secure, and nonviolent elections in a meaningful process.”
The road, transport and bridges minister said these things in a press conference at Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon on Thursday morning.
Obaidul Quader said: “Awami League has never taken the responsibility of running the state without elections and people's verdict. Awami League does not think about changing the state power through conspiracy. We have always respected democracy in elections. We fought for people's votes and people's rights.”
He added: “On behalf of the government, I promise to follow the rules and regulations of the constitution. We are committed to assist the authorities in all election-related matters.”
