Two students fell ill during the protest
Students of Rajshahi Institute of Health Technology (RIHT) on Monday staged a protest to press home their 11-point demand.
The agitators staged a sit-in program from 9am to 2pm and locked the main gate of the university. As a result, all classes were cancelled for the day.
The protest took a toll on two students who fell ill and were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Of the 11-point demand, the opening of all hostels, stopping harassment of teachers, opportunity to teach in their own departments on merit, bringing necessary instruments to labs, construction of separate toilets for female students, and arrangement of mid-term examinations.
According to students, there are many issues on campus. The authorities did not solve it despite repeated requests. So, they were forced to protest.
The protesters said the environment of the university is not conducive to learning. That is why they decided to stage a protest.
Rajshahi IHT Principal (acting) Farhana Haque Moushumi said she would listen to the student's demands and will send the matter to the ministry. She will let the students know what the ministry will decide.
