Poet Imran Mahfuz, injured during the July uprising, has submitted an application to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, urging official action to identify the unknown martyrs of the July uprising and return their remains to their families.

The application said that many martyrs killed during the July uprising remain unidentified, and their bodies or remains have yet to be handed over to their families, as reported by various media outlets.

It emphasized that identifying and returning the remains of these martyrs to their families is a national duty. For example, police would bring in 10 to 12 unidentified bodies at a time. Over a hundred were buried at Rayerbazar alone. If we fail to fulfill even this minimal responsibility to the families who sacrificed their lives in the anti-fascist uprising, history will hold us accountable. Such neglect would be an act of betrayal to the souls of the martyrs.

Therefore, the application requested the government to clarify within three days whether any measures have been taken to identify and retrieve the remains of the missing martyrs or those who forcibly disappeared and to hand them over to their families.
