Bangladesh’s independence and remarkable development have come under the leadership of Awami League, said party general secretary Obaidul Quader.
He said this while talking to reporters after visiting the venue of Awami League's foundation anniversary rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday (June 22).
Obaidul Quader said: “The two greatest achievements of the nation are the independence of the country and the highest development of the country. Both these came under the leadership of Awami League. But to prove that the country is corrupt and to prove that the country's politicians have failed, a group is planning to act like One Eleven. Politics is for people. I am with people, I will be with them in the future, too.”
He said that now the aim of the Awami League government is to complete the unfinished work of the party, defeat the communal militant forces and form a non-communal country and implement the election manifesto of the party and bring inflation under control.
"The main task now is to complete the ongoing development projects, including Rooppur nuclear power plant, Payra seaport," added the AL general secretary.
On the occasion of Awami League's 75th founding anniversary 'Platinum Jubilee', the programme will be inaugurated on Sunday noon (June 23) at the historical Suhrawardy Udyan with the hoisting of the national and party flags, playing the national anthem, and flying balloons and pigeons.
After that, there will be a discussion meeting and cultural programme.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will preside over the discussion meeting.
The party, established as Awami Muslim League on June 23, 1949, at the then Rose Garden of Old Dhaka, later became non-sectarian and emerged as Bangladesh Awami League.
