Flood causes damage worth Tk 14,421cr: CPD

The deadly flash flood that hit Bangladesh’s four districts recently inflicted damage worth over Tk 14,421 crore, says the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

“Agriculture and forest sectors have suffered the most. The incurred losses of around Tk 5,169 crore,” CPD Executive Director Dr Fahmida Khatun told the media on Sunday (October 6) in Dhaka.

She said Noakhali has suffered the most damage as a district followed by Cumilla.

According to the disaster management and relief ministry, the floods killed 67 people, including seven women and 18 children.

More than 5.1 million people were affected by the flood in 68 upazilas of Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur and Cox's Bazar.
