BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir speaks at a relief distribution event organized by the BNP in Lalmai Upazila of Comilla on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the term of the interim government is only 20-22 days, emphasizing that more time should be given to them.

He made these remarks at a relief distribution event organized by the BNP in Lalmai upazila of Comilla on Saturday afternoon.

He emphasized the need for fair and free elections, urging that all political parties' opinions be considered to ensure the people can elect the right representatives.

Besides, Fakhrul has accused a faction of attempting to undermine the achievements of student movements and tarnish the image of the BNP by attacking its most persecuted leaders from the past 15-16 years.

He said that the BNP has no ties to those who engage in wrongdoing, stating that such individuals should be handed over to the police without any party endorsement.

The event, held at the Choto Sharifpur High School grounds, saw the distribution of relief materials and medicines to 2,000 flood-affected people in the upazila.

Fakhrul reiterated that the BNP has always stood by the people during natural disasters, including floods, and will continue to do so in the future.

Apart from his visit to Lalmai, the BNP secretary general is also scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas of Nangalkot, Laksam, and Manoharganj.
