Warns of action against those withdrawing candidacies
Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has said he is confident that all of his party’s candidates contesting the general election from the six constituencies of Rangpur–considered to be JaPa’s stronghold–will emerge victorious if the January 7 polls are free and fair.
“The Awami League says it has gained more popularity than the Jatiya Party in Rangpur. Let them contest the election after resigning from power, then we will see which party is more influential here,” GM Quader said while electioneering in the Rangpur Medical College area on Wednesday afternoon.
He urged the public to vote for the Jatiya Party in the election.
In response to a question from journalists, he said some candidates of the Jatiya Party have quit the election race in some places, which is not a party decision. “They may have been influenced by someone, or they are doing it mainly to get attention.”
“Action will be taken against those who are withdrawing their candidacy.”
