Bangladesh Awami League from its X handle has slammed BNP’s central leader Rumeen Farhana for her refusal to condemn the spree of arson attacks in observence of her party’s ongoing blockade rather attempt to justify such destructive acts that already resulted in burning alive of at least one helper and several passengers sustained burn injuries.
"BNP’s central leader justifies torching buses and burning helper alive and torching buses but no outrage from so called rights bodies," Awami League wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Taking part in a talk show, BNP’s Rumeen Farhana has justified arson attacks on buses and even did not condemn the burning of a bus helper alive in his sleep, reads the Awami League message.
In response to a question over killing of a bus helper during an arson attack outside the capital: “I don’t find any problem for burning buses”
While country’s civil society has criticized such calls for unleashing violence, a number of global entities are conveniently ignoring these calls for violence by BNP leaders as if such defence deserve impunity, AL said.
Such highly self-contradictory and partisan call would only undermine credibility of these bodies unless these orgs stand corrected, reads the message on X.
UNB could not reach Rumeen by phone for comments.
