Independent lawmaker Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed a general diary seeking his safety on Saturday.
He filed the GD with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station in Dhaka.
Suman, an MP from Habiganj-4 constituency, also shared a copy of the GD on his verified Facebook page.
He said: “Before the GD, the law enforcement agencies should have found those who threatened me and brought them under the law.”
Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, also a well-known face on social media, said these things to reporters at the Supreme Court premises on Sunday.
Barrister Suman said: “The question has now arisen whether the state machinery wants to keep me alive or not. I filed a GD for the safety of my life. Now it is the responsibility of law enforcement. I do not fear death. But I am concerned about the people of my area."
According to the GD, Suman said he received a phone call from the officer-in-charge of Chunarighat police station, which falls under his constituency, around 2am on Thursday.
The officer-in-charge claimed that a team of four to five people wanted to kill him.
The officer-in-charge, without revealing the identity of the team members, asked him to be cautious, leaving him in a situation of insecurity, reads the GD.
